Which shade systems does it read?
VITA Classical A1–D4 and VITA 3D-Master. Both results appear on the screen at the same time from a single measurement, so you can send the lab whichever system they work in — or both.
Do I measure the tooth or the shade tab?
The tooth. Always the tooth. The device is built to read natural enamel — a layered, translucent, curved surface. A ceramic shade tab is none of those things, so scanning one neither tests the device nor gives you a meaningful comparison.

Does room lighting or saliva affect the reading?
No. The tip has its own adaptive light source with ambient light compensation and sits flat on the tooth, so surgical lamps, daylight, wall colour and intraoral moisture are shut out of the measurement.
Do I need an app, Bluetooth or a computer?
No. One button, result on the built-in HD screen. Nothing to pair, nothing to update, nothing for the assistant to learn.
How do I clean it between patients?
Wipe the probe with 75% medical alcohol before and after each use, then replace the protective cap. No autoclave, no high-temperature or high-pressure sterilisation. The cap also stops scratches on the optical window, which is what would degrade readings over time.
How is it charged and how long does the battery last?
Rechargeable 3.7 V / 1500 mAh lithium battery. It sits on the included charging base between patients (5 V / 1 A adapter, AC 100–240 V, works in any country). Each reading takes about a second, so a charge covers days of normal clinic use.
